When To Use Lightweight Camping Tents

The great outdoors provides a peaceful haven to thousands of hikers and families each year.  Warm weather is the most popular time for camping excursions.  Campers need a variety of equipment for their adventure including proper camping tents for their specific needs.  Camping tents can come in various sizes and shapes.  In warmer weather it is best to use lightweight camping tents.

Lightweight camping tents are usually made of mesh and nylon.  These tents are particularly good in warm weather and offer maximum ventilation for comfort.  The more airflow camping tents are capable of, the more comfortable the stay.  Average lightweight camping tents offer one or two doorways, as well as a few windows.  Some also offer mesh ceilings.  Mesh fabric is a wonderful addition to camping tents because it is great at letting air in and keeping insects out, all at the same time.

Spring and Fall are also optimal times to use lightweight camping tents.  For rainy weather, these camping tents offer rain hoods.  Most, however, are not fully equipped to keep out heavy rain or extended showers.  Campers who are planning trips during rainy seasons should look for camping tents with zippered doors and windows instead of tie doors, for extra protection.

Lightweight camping tents are not only comfortable to stay in when the weather is warm, but they are also easy to carry.  Hikers are big fans of lightweight camping tents because they add minimal weight to their packs.  Hikers planning long hikes greatly benefit from these camping tents.  Older hikers respect the tent’s weight as well and can use these even with health issues involving their backs.  Not only are these camping tents easier on a hiker’s back, but they also prevent unnecessary exhaustion during the hike.

These wonderful camping tents come in various shapes and sizes similar to other camping tents.  The average lightweight camping tents hold two people, while larger versions hold up to four.  It may be beneficial for larger groups to choose two smaller camping tents, opposed to one big tent, to lessen the loads.  Obviously, the less people these camping tents hold, the lighter they will be.

Lightweight camping tents are good for short or extended stays.  They usually do not offer the extra space that some luxury tents offer, but they are perfect for the low maintenance hiker or small camping group.  So, for your warm weather camping trips, consider choosing lightweight camping tents.  Not only will they be better for your back and shoulders, but they will also keep you cool at night.
